Scott Roeder: GUILTY
Scott Roeder, a 51-year-old airport shuttle driver, was convicted today of murdering George Tiller, one the nation’s few physicians who performed late-term abortions. Roeder attempted to use the defense that he killed Dr. Tiller to save unborn babies. Roeder showed NO emotion in court as the verdict was read after just 37 minutes of deliberation.
Roeder’s attorneys were hoping that they would get a lesser charge of voluntary manslaughter which would have required that they show Roeder had an unreasonable but honest belief that deadly force was justified. WHAT? The judge ruled that Roeder did not pose an imminent threat. Honestly? How can stalking a man for years and then going into his church one Sunday morning and putting a gun to his temple and pulling the trigger be considered anything other than what it was – cold blooded murder. Roeder’s attorneys stated that he does not feel guilt for killing Dr. Tiller. Mr. Roeder’s type scares the living crap out of me, and he is not the only one of his type running around out there.
Roeder testified Thursday that he considered elaborate schemes to stop Dr. Tiller, including chopping off his hands, crashing a car into him or sneaking into his home to kill him. All I can say is WTF? The jury deliberated for just 37 minutes before finding Scott Roeder, GUILTY of premeditated, first-degree murder.
There are some real wackos that have attached themselves to this case. Just google Dr. Tiller’s name and look at all the wackadoos that have websites praising Roeder. It’s disgusting. This was never an issue about personal opinions regarding abortion rights. Roe vs. Wade ensures the right to a safe, legal abortion. It is not against the law – whether you are for or against abortions. This was about the cold blooded murder of a human being.

As much as i disagree with killing innocent babies, it still does not give anyone the right to kill this man. Killing is killing no matter how you slice it. This man was murdered for doing his job. Though i disagree with his job to begin with i still wouldn’t condone the killing. Some would say it is kill one save many babies, but these babies may end up growing up in a home that does not want them, cannot afford them, or simply killed and tosses out like trash.

Great blog topic Princess. Either way you flip the coin on this topic there is a contrarian opinion. However, it is still not right to shoot another human being. Justice needs to be in the hands of the law not vigilantees.
When something is legal within the law, either get the law changed or learn to live with it. That is my opinion.
I have listened to some of Scott Roeder’s testimony. He struggles with letting a woman have an abortion if her life is in danger……because it is God’s will. He doesn’t care if a woman has been raped or a child is pregnant from incest. Thank God he is in jail, so that all are safe from this mad man.
He is a misogynist and a murderer.
I’m not a “fan” of abortions. I am a huge “fan” of birth control. You know, being PROactive, rather than REactive. The fact of the matter is that abortion is legal. And what he did was out and out, premeditated murder. There was no justification, AT ALL, for his actions. The verdict was just!
