Aveion Malik Lewis is Dead

Aveion Malik Lewis

Once again, a little one has died at the hands of those who are to be their protectors.  It is almost a daily occurrence that we hear of these atrocities.  This little boy is absolutely adorable and his step-father, Brandon Lockett, is in custody and has been charged with felony child neglect, improper disposal of a human body, and obstruction of justice.

Brandon Lockett, step-father of missing 2-year-old Aveion Malik Lewis has now admitted that Aveion was dead before he placed a call to 911.  He made up a story about that he was assaulted by three black men who knocked him unconscious, bound and gagged his 4-year-old daughter, and kidnapped 2-year-old Aveion Lewis.  He also told law enforcement that the kidnappers left a ransom note for $10,000.  All of this in order elude detection by Roanoke Police for what REALLY happened to Aveion.  As of yet, no one knows.    Did I mention that Brandon Lockett beat himself up to make his story more credible?

What is known, is that Aveion had a rough life for his short two-years here on Earth.  Aveion’s case came to Social Services in May 2008.  He was only 14 months old at the time.  Social Services received a report that Morgan Lockett, Aveion’s mother,  was neglecting Aveion, and that he was severely underweight.  He weighed 9 pounds at 14 months old.   Aveion was born with a medical problem that required surgery to remove part of his intestines, and as a result he had a strict feeding schedule.  Apparently, momster couldn’t adhere to it and Aveion was removed from her home and placed in foster care.

Aveion remained in foster care until March.  The  Roanoke Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court developed a plan for Morgan and Brandon Lockett, Aveion’s stepfather to complete parenting courses, and for Brandon to complete an 18-week program on domestic violence alternatives course.  In March 2009, Aveion was returned home, but Social Services retained legal custody.  A case worker did home visits 20 to 30 hours per month observing the Locketts parenting skills, reinforcing and teaching good parenting practices, and watching Aveion’s adjustment.  In September 2009, a judge awarded Morgan Lockett legal custody of Aveion on the recommendation of Social Services, and in January 2010 the little boy is DEAD.  Good job Social Services!  Once again, an agency that is to protect children has FAILED.

Social Services denies responsibility for Aveion’s death and the director says:

“The person who is responsible for this is not the social worker,” she said. “I think we need to keep in mind that social workers aren’t mind readers. We work with the best knowledge and information we have and within the law. Nobody can, with 100 percent accuracy, predict the behavior of another person.”

Nope, you can’t predict the behavior of another person, but when you have two buttholes that don’t feed their child to the point that he weighs only NINE POUNDS, then parenting classes are probably not going to help them.  Taking away their child PERMANENTLY would have.

So, again I have to ask.  When is the system going to be overhauled so that children aren’t dying at the hands of their parents?  Hopefully searchers will find Aveion’s remains so that his family can give him a proper burial.  I suspect that these two pigs let him starve to death.

Roanoke police have temporarily postponed the search for Aveion Lewis due to the winter weather.  If you have any information about the case, call 853-2212.

I think at some point social services and the courts have to have MUCH stricter guidelines for returning neglected and abused children back to the home. What is happening now is not working for the children, parents end up costing millions in court costs and prisons, it’s expensive and almost always there is a dead child involved, my take if you are too stupid to notice your child is over a year old and weighs less than a bag of sugar, you are failing as a parent and no amount of parenting classes are going to make you smarter that a bag of hair. A highly educated judge failed that child, an educated social worker failed that child, her supervisor failed who has a masters degree failed that child. Until these educated people start making educated decisions, err on the side of caution, don’t return the kids until they can protect themselves and have a way to tell other adults something is wrong, like 7-10 years old. Or hey just let them be adopted to people who can remember to feed them once i a while. What ever is going on with this process right now is fixed, it’s clear that what is going on now is not working and is a huge drain on society, and of course the child lost his or her life due to bad decision making and bad evaluation practises now in place. Poor child, how he must have suffered and when you consider what the mook of a father came up with as an alibi, how could anyone have given these people another chance with a baby.

I have two comments…. its not a game that you can say let me do it over… A child has died.

#2 Apathy and a child that you don’t want in the first place isn’t going to be overcome by a few parenting classes that they are coerced into attending for whatever reason.

Common sense has died. I see the signs of common sense decomposing virtually all over the real world and for sure on the Internet.

WHY, do we have social services anyway. Seems to me more children are abused, neglected & die under their supervision than than are protected & saved.
