Child Found 7 Years Later

For as much bad news and stories of horrific crimes that we talk about here, it is GREAT when there is good news out there.  Yesterday, 7 years to the date that Taylor White went missing, she was found in Nebraska living with her mother, Joyce Thomas.  A co-worker of Thomas’ happened to be looking through the Sunday ads and at the top of the page was a “have you seen me” type ad with Joyce’s picture.   The co-worker picked up the phone and called to report that yes, she had seen Taylor.

Law enforcement went to Thomas’ place of employment and through a check of her employment records found that she was the Joyce Thomas that they were looking for and made their arrest.  Taylor is currently in the custody of Sarpy County, Nebraska children services.

Neighbors say that Thomas kept to herself and always kept her blinds closed.  Well, now they know why.  She was a fugitive.  Again, I’m glad to hear some good news with regards to a missing child.

That really made my day to hear a child was found, alive and well, 7 years later! Kinda gives hope for some of the other missing children…

A missing child story with a happy ending! Finally!

Nice to have a happy ending to a missing child story. On a side note they could have done a better job of concealing the identity of the woman who phoned the tip in. Between telling the woman’s hair style and color and that blue nail and toe polish I’ll bet three fourths of the town knows her identity. All in all – three cheers for her for being observant and having the guts to place the call.

this is great news. I”ve often wondered if these pictures work after such a long time. This is proof positive that they do.

LOL@Bgpelican- I thought the same thing about the identity of the informer.

BEFORE I go jumping for joy on this one – I would like more info. Like WHY did the mom flee? What were HER reasons?
I know she lost a custody battle. But I need more details… WHY did she lose custody? Did the Dad have more money?
    Was Joyce unfit?
Was her ex abusive? Was he abusing her or/and Taylor.
    Was Joyce being vendictive?

    I need more …….

I just find it hard to understand WHY a woman would take her child and go on the run and into hiding for “no good” reason.

You are right I too would like more details.

Has anyone ever read Carl Hiassen’s booked called Strip Tease?

It’s a very good reason why a woman would do something for the benefit of her child inspite of a court order giving custody to the other party. Justice is not always served in the interest of a child in court.

I’m with you on that also. I’m glad the girl was found, but I would like to know why the mother fled with her. If she did it to escape an abusive man, and feared for her daughter, then good for her to hide her. There wasn’t enough details as to why she took off with her daughter. I’ve read too many stories where the court made a wrong decision on custody with tragic results. Good for the woman who reported it, I wish more people were observant in their communities.

I’m glad she was found, but I wonder how the child feels about it. Does she want to be reunited with her father? Would she rather be with her mother?

You know that is another good point. What kind of life and quality of life has this child lived for the past 7 years? Was this woman good to the child and just love her so much she could not give her up. Definately need to know particulars of the case. Just look at how far Mrs. Doubtfire… (Robin WIlliams) went to be with his children.

I am glad to hear good news and yes I believe the “Have You Seen Me” pics have worked time and time again in the past.

I feel for the father who is trying to regain his child from Brazil too

OMG She lived in the town I live in. I never seen the little girl or her mother. But wow she was found. Happy ending!!!!
