MANSFIELD — A convicted sex offender on the run for nearly a month with his girlfriend and her 3-year-old daughter has been captured in San Diego. The little girl is safe.
U.S. Marshal for the Northern District of Ohio Peter J. Elliott says Robbie Potter was captured on Tuesday after a manhunt that stretched from coast to coast.
Potter was in the San Diego County Jail and 3-year Haylee Elizabeth Jade Donathan was safe and unharmed. She is in the custody of childrens services in San Diego County.
“Once again, it was great teamwork between the United States Marshals service, our partners at Richland County Sheriff’s Department, San Diego authorities, and Crestline Police,” Elliott told WKYC.
Potter, his girlfriend Candace Watson, and Haylee were last seen in Crestline, Ohio on May 28. Watson was also jailed in San Diego.
Elliott says someone spotted Potter’s photograph which was displayed on a billboard in San Diego. Information led authorities to a Christian retreat center where the arrest of Potter and Watson took place without incident.

I have seen the footage, and I also had read the little girl watches “Baby Einstein”. I’m really torn about the video because it is too coached. Auntie and Mommy should not be questioning the child. A child psychologist should. So, my opinion is neutral at this time until there is additional evidence other than the video.
Princess, I really value your opinion. Were you able to watch the full 27 munute version of ‘Daddys Worm’, I watched it and really didnt believe it was coached. There are also some visitation exchanges between the mom and dad on You Tube which were really hearbreaking.

I agree with you entirely that a child psychologist should be speaking with this little girl. I have contacted everyone to ask for an independant evaluation of this case, I have followed it from the beginning on BNN.
I know that we can only form an opinion based on what we see online and we know that’s never the entire picture but something is very wrong with this case. The way I see it, if I was the father being accused of such a horrific crime and I was innocent I would be demanding any kind of testing to clear my name. I would be doing it publically because the allegations have already been made public. I understand the father has refused a lie detector and stress test, he has also refused an independant evaluation from the renowned Dr Joe Saturley that the mother has agreed to. Surely he must have something to hide?
There have been multiple MDIC(Multiple Discipline Interviews) sessions as well as 11 CPS investigations into this case. There is also a California 730 examination report that has been filed with the courts.
There has been no medical evidence found, and the police have not filed any charges. This mother has currently lost shared custody of her child (since July of last year). She has not been able to even have the court authorized supervised visitation in over 2 months after the visitation facility she was using refused to let her continue using their services.
There is no information as to why she has not been able to re-establish supervised visitation at another facility in the area. At the last court date, the judge recommended her attorney file an Exparte motion if visitation was not resumed immediately. To date, no motion has been filed.
It seems that the father prefers to fight this out in court, instead of online. I do believe that this mother believes in the abuse she is alleging. However, there are too many holes in the story(such as no medical evidence despite progressive claims of pain from this child’s provate areas- surely a doctor visit was made to invesitgate months of complains from this child?), and so little in the way of any proof.
There have been many professionals who have looked at this case, and this child has been(not sure if she still is) going through regular therapy. I find it difficult to believe that the entire medical community, police, and CPS are all in cahoots to keep this child from her mother. There is so much not clear, and so many allegations.
There are no answers. There are so many opinions, and this story has a way of truly polarizing blogs. We may never know the truth, but there sure are a lot of angry opinions about this story out there.
I hope the child was truly unhurt in any way. This is a blessing that she was alive. There should be more stories about this. I hope the POS mother doesn’t say she was leading him to religion!

This is wonderful news! We should celebrate because it’s rare that we have such good news in a missing child case.
In this case, the mother needs to be charged with child endangerment or worse.She allowed her child to be with a convicted sex offender. We’re seeing a pattern now of mothers allowing these pedophiles to be around their children and it has to stop.
Parents must be held accountable for any harm that comes to their children when they knowingly put their lives in danger. Maybe if we start convicting them we’ll deter other parents from doing the same thing.

Are you guys sure the guy was a pedophile? Not every sex offender is a pedophile. I haven’t seen it written anywhere but here. I haven’t seen any evidence of what he was convicted of…people just assume. Am I missing it?
Maybe he was convicted indecent exposure to the elderly. Still a disgusting crime, but alot different than being a pedophile.

Wonderful news. The news said she may have chicken pox. I hope that is the worst she has to deal with, or that has hapened. I also hope grandma gets FULL custody and the mother loses her rights.
Thank God. Now may she never be put back with that sick mother again.
In truth, I think this guy had sex with a 15-year-old hence his previous conviction. But the mother had no way of knowing if he was “safe” or not. Maybe it is better to play it safe? Radical thought, I know.
Anyhoo, he is going back to prison for violating his parole. The mother should be charged with something just to make a point.

I kinda wonder, too-the child’s mother had her with a man who is a sex offender-meaning she chose a sex offender (whether he was at that time or not, he fit the profile); her brother is a sex offender, and she herself thought it was ok to leave with a sex offender. The woman who raised her (the childs mama), and her brother, will have custody? Is this a safe situation?
IMO, I don’t think this poor little girl should live with anyone who was in her life previously unless they can prove that she is in a safe, sound environment.
Candace Watson and her mother are vying with Jennifer and Sherry Buchanan (mother/grandmother of murdered Nevaeh) for the yearly Deaf, Blind and Criminally Stupid Relatives Award. In both cases, the mom and grandmother knew they were associating with a pedophile whom they allowed to be around their daughter. For Nevaeh, the results were tragic. Little Haylee was much luckier. LE in Mansfield need to thoroughly investigate the grandmother before allowing Haylee to live with her.
I agree with investigating Grandma. She LIED for her daughter on NG. She tried to make her appear less of a piece of s**t. What’s that saying? That her kid (probably like the other who is a child molester) has never had accountability in her life. I honestly don’t think granny is much better than the sh.itbags she raised.
